"Think Outside the Box" is the challenge that the Dumas, TX Art Center gave to artists in the Texas Panhandle earlier this summer. Artists were given a paper plate and asked to create something with it. The one restriction was that it must hang on a wall. Janette decided a gold fish using other paper goods from the kitchen would be fun. See what a paper plate, paper bowl, and two coffee filters with the addition of acrylic paint can become! This event will be celebrated with an old fashioned ice cream special on Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2007, at 2:00 PM and hang until September 15th. |

Janette was asked to paint a classical guitar as part of the auction fundraiser for the Amarillo Chamber Music Society. Since altering the finish can affect the tone of the instrument, she was careful to use a light touch while painting a scene from Spain. She used several photographs from a friend's trip to Spain for inspiration. The Romero family from Spain will play the guitar and then autograph it before the auction. Many people may have seen them on PBS in the past few years. |
